Fruit cracking is a major challenge for fruit growers, particularly in sensitive crops such as cherries, apricots, plums, and other fruit trees. This disorder is caused by excessive water absorption through the fruit skin, which increases internal osmotic pressure and causes the fruit to expand beyond the resistance of its skin.

Factors contributing to cracking include:
